Following an illness that almost cost him his life, Matt McClelland spent his days recuperating from surgery laying on his back, planning out a large vegetable garden in his backyard. Eventually, Matt teamed up with friend, Louby Sukkar, and planted more fruits and veggies than their two families could eat. So, they started testing recipes and making big batches of preserves, jams, and condiments to the delight of friends and family.

The perfected recipes would later become the makings of The Backyard Food Company.

Matt and Louby continue to grow big gardens and source as much local produce as possible for their line of condiments, pickles, and salsas which now satisfy customers throughout New England and beyond.
