Hope & Main’s answer for Food security in Rhode Island

Main Street Meals is a program that hires growing food businesses to cook delicious, high-quality dinners with locally sourced ingredients, and distributes these meals to neighbors in need of support.

We provide hundreds of meals weekly to community partners who can distribute the meals when someone comes in for other services. No ID or registration is required so the meals are easily and swiftly given.

    This week’s meal can be enjoyed two ways! Choose between slow-cooked pork bolognese, featuring tender pork butt simmered for 15 hours with celery, carrots, and onions in Foss Farms Marinara, or a hearty vegan lentil bolognese sautéed with the same savory trio and simmered to perfection. Both are served over tender shell pasta. Please leave a comment with your preferred option when ordering!

You Too Can Help! Community Supported Meal Share

When you purchase a “Buy One / Give One” meal for yourself, we are able produce a second meal to give away.

So, you’ll take home a lovingly prepared dish made by one of our member chefs and for every meal bought, another of the same meal is donated to a neighbor in need through our channels.

This program strengthens both lives and livelihoods, offering an innovative approach to emergency food assistance while supporting the local economy.

Main Street Meals meets families at the point of need. Whether it is in a Women’s Shelter, a Senior Center, a Head Start Program, a Recovery Center, a school or church, our partners are able to provide nutritious prepared meals on the spot for every child and every family member in need. Prior to the pandemic 1 in 10 Rhode Islanders was food insecure. Now it is nearly 1 in 3.  

With support from hundreds of donors, dozens of volunteers, and highly committed community partners we are working to ensure that local food insecure families and other vulnerable individuals can access whole, prepared meals at a time when nutritious food is critical to maintaining good health.
