Farmers-Makers Markets

Connecting with the bounty of Rhode Island’s farmers and food producers

“Food is a relationship that goes so much deeper than reading a label in a supermarket. We want to share the fascinating story of the origin and production of the food we eat everyday.”

Schoolyard Market

Open 4-7pm every week on Wednesday, June – October

MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED

We are hard at work planning a delicious and safe winter market season for you! Please check back soon, or sign up for updates!

Looking to join as a vendor to sell your wares? Great! Applications are due by midnight on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Schoolyard Market is engaging visitors as a part of our nonprofit mission, helping locally-based food and beverage businesses start up, scale and thrive. Market-goers will be delighted to find a stellar cast of vendors selling the newest and freshest offerings from New England-based farms, food and beverage producers, bakers, food trucks, and more.

Unlike traditional farmers markets, Schoolyard Market  aims to provide an interactive experience, designed to engage shoppers in more than just making purchases.

“The Schoolyard Market consumer is actually part of the incubation process by providing input and feedback to these budding food entrepreneurs. We have had many companies crowd source and perfect their recipes, packaging and branding during the Schoolyard Market season. That makes this market unlike any other local food experience.”

— Lisa Raiola, Founder & President of Hope & Main

More About Our Markets

OH SNAP!

Over half of all farmers markets in our state provide a Bonus Bucks match for EBT dollars — and we’re one of them! Too many of our neighbors are facing food insecurity. In order to make our markets more accessible to everyone we have joined forces with Farm Fresh Rhode Island to offer the Bonus Bucks program at our summer Schoolyard Market. Shoppers can use their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for groceries at participating farmers markets, and in turn, the markets match 100% of those funds to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables. That’s double the SNAP dollars to spend at the farmers market! Farm Fresh RI’s Bonus Bucks don’t expire and can be used at all participating farmers markets, but we hope you’ll spend most of them here!

Visit the Hope & Main market stall to learn more about all of these programs, and to get your Bonus Bucks tokens.

Live Music Every Market!

Music and food go together so well that we thought we ought to invite local musicians to play for you all summer long. Each Sunday you’ll be able to enjoy the work and talent of a variety of musicians ranging from Latin Jazz to Bluegrass. Sing-alongs, clapping, snapping, foot stomping and improvisational dancing are all totally fine with us. We’re all here to have fun!

Get Here However You Can!

We are located at 691 Main Street, Warren, RI  02885. Parking is free and plentiful in the neighborhood and we’re a direct stop on RIPTA #60. Not into motorized transportation? Note that we’re across the street from the East Bay Bike Path at the Franklin Street intersection.

We’re a Compost Depot! Food waste collected onsite is later processed into nutrient rich soil amendment.

Give FEEDback!

Hope & Main is home to more than 50 small, independent food-related companies looking to develop and expand their businesses. We help “incubate” these companies, offering commercial kitchen spaces and business development resources and connect them with customers and retailers. Obtaining feedback from customers is helping our Members fine-tune their branding and products.
