Farmers-Makers Markets

Connecting with the bounty of Rhode Island’s farmers and food producers

“Food is a relationship that goes so much deeper than reading a label in a supermarket. We want to share the fascinating story of the origin and production of the food we eat everyday.”

–Lisa Raiola, Founder & President of Hope & Main

Schoolyard Market! Summer 2023 Season

Every Wednesday from 4 pm – 7pm

First market on Wed. June 14th through Wed. September 27th

If you’re not hanging out in the Schoolyard at Hope & Main on Wednesday evenings with a craft cocktail or mocktail and a freshly fried falafel pocket, Korean corn dog, or Rhode Island’s only Ethiopian food, well, you’re missing out!

The food incubator’s Schoolyard Market is Warren’s weekly neighborhood block party in the middle of a hyper-local food market. Every Wednesday night we have a rotating line up of passionate food and beverage vendors putting their best dish forward for you. Each week the market will host 20 different vendors, live music and cooking demonstrations, as well as activities for kids, and a fun line-up of themes from Christmas in July, Ice Cream Sundae Week, to Yappy Hour for four legged market-goers. Lawn chairs, wagons, and extra shopping totes are strongly encouraged.

“The Schoolyard Market is truly a place to scope out what’s new in local food and beverage ” says Alison Mountford, Hope & Main’s Director of Marketing, “Since the majority of vendors are members of our culinary incubator, they’re making their products on site and selling them to our community. Some are brand new, making their first sale to the public, and others are here growing and expanding their passionate customer base. Either way, it’s a win for local food lovers.”

Ample free parking is available at the Franklin St. Lot across from the Hope & Main Building

More About Our Markets

SNAP, WIC & SENIOR CITIZEN VOUCHERS WELCOME

Over half of all farmers markets in our state provide a Bonus Bucks match for EBT dollars — and we’re one of them! Too many of our neighbors are facing food insecurity. In order to make Schoolyard Market more accessible to everyone we have joined forces with Farm Fresh Rhode Island to offer the Bonus Bucks program. Shoppers can use their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for groceries at participating farmers markets, and in turn, the markets match 100% of those funds to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables. That’s double the SNAP dollars to spend at the farmers market! Farm Fresh RI’s Bonus Bucks don’t expire and can be used at all participating farmers markets, but we hope you’ll spend most of them here!

More good news! Most Schoolyard Market farmers accept WIC and Senior Citizen coupons, too.

Visit the Hope & Main market stall to learn more about all of these programs, and to get your Bonus Bucks tokens.

Live Music Every Market!

Music and food go together so well that we thought we ought to invite local musicians and DJs to play for you all summer long.

Get Here However You Can!

We are located at 691 Main Street, Warren, RI  02885. Parking is free and plentiful in the neighborhood and we’re a direct stop on RIPTA #60. Not into motorized transportation? Note that we’re across the street from the East Bay Bike Path at the Franklin Street intersection.

** No live animals are allowed in the building. Please visit the Hope & Main stall with questions or concerns. **

We’re a Compost Depot! Food waste collected onsite is later processed into nutrient rich soil amendment.

Give FEEDback!

Hope & Main is home to more than 100 small, independent food-related companies looking to develop and expand their businesses. We help “incubate” these companies, offering commercial kitchen spaces and business development resources and connect them with customers and retailers. Obtaining feedback from customers is helping our Members fine-tune their branding and products.
